 Roverang is now in its 52nd year, and from its roots as a small local gangshow, has now grown into a popular musical entertainment. This year over 120 Brownies, Cubs, Explorer Scouts, Rangers, & young Leaders from the east of Southampton will be performing in the lively song and dance show at the Nuffield Theatre during Easter week.
It is a fantastic opportunity for children & young people to be part of an amateur production at a real theatre. The cast, production team, backstage crew, front-of-house, and set & costume designers are all volunteers, with rehearsals starting over 6 months before the show.
The show appeals to audiences of all ages with its mix of dancing, singing and comedy sketches. This year’s theme is ‘News of the World’ with sections charting the musical eras of Motown, Woodstock, Abba, MTV, Boy & Girl Bands and finally, the world of digital downloads.
The show’s dates are Tuesday 14th - Saturday 18th April 2009. Performances are at 7:30pm each night, with an additional matinee on Saturday at 2pm.

 Roverang 2009 present : "News of the World" Roverang’s “News of the World” provides the older members of the audience with an opportunity to relive music that had a huge influence of the world of music, or younger members the opportunity to understand how music of yester-year influenced the music we listen to today. Roverang 2009 will take you down memory lane visiting the Motown years, Abbamania and of course look at the huge influence of ‘Woodstock’. Moving to towards current day music Roverang looks at how MTV and the internet shaped music of today as well as looking at the all important rivalry between Boy and Girl bands!
If you are looking for the perfect family trip to the theatre, this is it. Roverang returns to the Nuffield Theatre to bring you a colourful music and dance extravaganza.
Performed by 120 young, and “not-so-young” members of local Scout and guide Associations, this is a regular favourite which never fails to fill the theatre. The show is equally suitable for grandparents and children and is an ideal opportunity to introduce children to live entertainment.
